My Philosophy
I grew up in Mexico City as part of a very big family. Both of my grandmothers always welcomed all of us into their homes and prepared for us delicious food with the freshest ingredients. My grandmother used to say "Una ollita junta a una familita" which means: A small pot brings a family together. As a mother and grandmother, I continue their legacy by preparing food for my family. My biggest fans are my kids and grandkids who love to come to my house to cook and eat with me.
I love to cook authentic Mexican food. But as an artist and creative, I make modern dishes as well that are influenced by the flavors of my upbringing, travels and exposure to many cultures throughout my life. Always using the freshest ingredients, I test, experiment and create dishes with various flavors to create top artisan quality modern Mexican food.
I am grateful to be able to share my heritage and connect with people around me through my food.
How It All Started
Vivian's Cocina was born spontaneously this past summer. One weekend I had my kids over for a Mexican lunch, as we did often. They loved the food so much my daughter suggested I start giving Mexican cooking classes. I hesitated and she suggested I posted a poll on Instagram. I did and a lot of people showed interest. Soon after I was teaching classes every week and people loved both the food and the format. They enjoyed not just learning about Mexican food, but socializing and eating what they learned to cook while connecting with friends. Word spread around and people kept asking to hold events where they could taste the food, so I decided to experiment with doing pop ups and cooking for private parties. People love everything they have tasted so far. We have been sold out every single time, and they keep asking for more! To find more information please contact us by clicking here.
